As we reach the end of January, 2017 is well and truly underway and we have been thinking about what will be bringing your outdoor spaces to life this year.

With the official Pantone colour of the year being Greenery, we expect to see people moving towards a more native setting for their great outdoors, welcoming a relaxed, raw and refreshing stance to their own outside worlds.

In no particular order, here are our top 5 trends for 2017…

Mood gardens…

Wanting to create their own hideaway havens, gardens will become a place of health, happiness and relaxation. From people growing their own veg through to using gardening as a tool for lowering stress, we expect to see a whole culture of wellness within the gardening world this year.

Getting back to nature…

People are looking to go ‘back to nature’ in every sense of the word this year. Natural materials are being used more often whilst garden designs will be welcoming an earthier feel, with natural curves and refined classic styles returning to our outdoor spaces…  and of course, the greener the better.

Creative Lighting…

Lighting in the garden can create a picture perfect backdrop all year round and this year people are getting more creative.  Those atmospheric fairy lights remain popular of course, but this year’s trends will see the likes of tree lamps, LED strings, light-up furniture and shining pergolas lighting things up.

Outdoor living…

Yes, we live in Britain, and because of that being outside throughout all seasons isn’t always possible (or nice). BUT one of the leading trends for this year is set to be the extension of the house to the garden, and creating an outdoor area that can be utilised more. Lazy lounge furniture, lighting and highlighting the interior design of the property is all on the cards, with cooking being of particular interest – think fresh pizzas from the clay oven and marshmallows and beers round the fire pit!

Metallic…

Metallic colours, especially copper, have seen a real increase in interest within interior design trends over the past couple of years and now people want the same shimmering effect in their outdoor space.  From lamps and furniture through to ornamental features and exterior materials, copper is set to be top of most people’s list this year.
